Tim's Tags 2013 - March

Hello Friends!

Well, my social media training day went really well yesterday...it was great to actually sit through a workshop and be encouraged to use our smartphones and tablets to tweet!

My friend and colleague from a partner Volunteer Centre, Kim was a great help - she loves doing all the foodie stuff for events, which is my pet hate - so I looked after the organising of the trainer and participants and Kim did all the food: what a perfect day!

I didn't think I was going to get my tag made this month, but I did! This is Tim Holz's Tag for us to base our creations on: you can find the details here

And this one below is mine:

Mine was totally a 'based on' as I didn't have the dies and stamps that Tim used, so I just had to 'adlib'. I had really been hoping he would use the new Easter Blueprint stamps as I have that set, but alas he chose a bunny die...but heck, I still went with the blueprint bunny!

I stamped the bunny on black card with Indigo Blu Flitterglu and then covered it with Yorkshire Dales megaflakes...it's a shame that the photo doesn't show the effect so well. I then die cut a frame using Spellbinders Labels Four Small and glued the bunny to blue glitter card before sticking it to the back of the frame.

I used a #10 Tag,which I  backed with Tim Holz Ideology Seasonal (Easter) paper, not really intending to cover it up so much, but never mind! 

Tim used a die to create the grass, but I cut mine freehand using Coredinations paper, which I sanded and to which I added a little Mustard Seed distress ink for highlights.

Before fixing the framed bunny to the label, I tied the pink ribbon around it and then tucked it in behind the grass. Finally I used some die-cut and punched flowers to decorate.

Tim's Tags 2013 - February - Thursday14th February

Happy St Valentine's  Day Friends!

As the theme for this month's Tim's Tag's of 2013 is Love/St Valentine, I thought today would be a good day to share my tag for the challenge. First of all, this is Tim's tag...

And here is my adaptation..needless to say I didn't own most of the elements used, so I had to use a bit of imagination here! However, I did follow the techniques as much as possible.

 Tim's tag is based around one of his new blueprint stamps, The Queen of Hearts. Looking at Tim's blog, even fans are divided in whether they like these stamps or not...I love them, just don't own many... as yet!

I did think about using a playing card, but I had this Wendy Vecchi Studio 490 heart stamp (one of my favourites!) on my desk and decided to use that instead.

I used a size #8 tag, which I inked all over with worn lipstick (Tim used distress stain), which I then spritzed with water to create a pooling effect when drying with a heat tool. I stamped the heart three times across the tag and once on a separate piece of card. The final heart I cut out and inked in the same way as the tag.

Then I used a paper distresser around the edge of the tag and inked with black soot (as per Tim's tut). Tim used kraft core seasonal impressions for the layer of black across the bottom. I used a Sam Poole Stamp (You're My Type) to ink with versamark, XOXO several times across a piece of coredinations card. I used old paper distress embossing powder, heat embossed, then sanded. I then tore the edges before gluing to the tag.

For the oval, I made my own little tag using craft foil and inked watercolour card. The 'I Love' and 'You X' are all from the Tim Holz  Ranger Seasonal paper pad.

My pointing finger is a digital stamp, inked with Antique Linen and matted and layered on black card.

For the 'Love' stamp, I used Creative Expressions Valentine stamp set 3 and heat embossed with gold. The tag is finished off with bakers twine wound around it to tie on the little tag and some ribbon which I stamped with a script stamp.

Tim's 12 Tags of 2013: January - Saturday 5th January

Thanks for visiting and leaving your comments yesterday, yes it was good news about Tom. I suppose in a way it was good that they found out when he was still quite young, so it can be kept an eye on. He did give up playing football, but I think that day was drawing ever closer anyway!

One crafty thing I've decided to participate in this year is Tim Holz 12 Tags of 2013 Challenge...it just makes so much sense: I'm a big Timmy fan, taking part teaches new techniques and it's tags..I love tags! I took so much inspiration from my blog friend Anne, last year with her tags and other gorgeous creations, that I just had to jump in!

The inspiration for January's tag is to take the time to absorb your surroundings, take it all in and enjoy life to the fullest. You can see Tim's tag here. I didn't have all the stamps and embellishments but this is my finished tag and I really enjoyed making it.

That Special Touch of Sprocket Mask

I started by embossing the sprocket mask on to the tag and then inked all over with a mix of the distress inks, finishing by inking around the edge with vintage photo. I then used a mister to sprinkle droplets over the just inked tag and heat dried to create splatters.

The sprockets were made using the die and Grungepaper, which I then covered with the distress stain - I wanted to use pewter, but it seems to have gone 'walkies' since Christmas! Then I scuffed up the edges of the die cuts with my fingers (!) and distressed the edges with Vintage Photo.

I stuck the spockets to the tag, letting them hang over the edge, trimmed those bits off and added them elsewhere to make double use of one die cut.

The film strip was added along the side, secured with tiny brads. I didn't have the sentiment Tom used, so I chose this one from my stamps and added a ticket.

To finish off, I stamped another Sam Poole quote on some American Seambinding (the possibilities are endless) and used 'January' from  a calendar stamp set I had free with Simply Homemade Magazine.
