Chicken Clock - Thursday 2nd April 2015

Hello Friends,

Thank you for you visits yesterday, you seemed to like the bunny in the plant pot! Cute little die set and it really didn't take long at all to make the card. I thought I had taken a better picture of the inside, I still have the card as it will be given to a family member tomorrow, so if I get time I'lll take another photo.

I'm writing this post Wednesday evening and scheduling as it's a work day on Thursday. I wouldn't normally be blogging as frequently, but I got quite a bit done last week and most of it was Easter related, so I wanted to get them posted! I have got little craft done this week: over the weekend we will be having visitors and visiting, so have been preparing and baking(love cooking, dislike baking, but it is Easter!) in my free time and won't get any crafting in over the weekend.

Today's project isn't just for Easter and I didn't start and finish it last week, I just finished it....I actually started it last summer and then left it. When I got out in the 'craft shed' last week, I made the effort to finish it so I could bring it inside...at the moment it's hanging in the craft room, but I think it will make it to the kitchen eventually!

I bought the wooden clock kit from Inky Doodles at Ally Pally last April, gave it a coat of gesso and chalk paint (AB of course) in 'original'. I stamped the hen and eggs on the centre circle using stamps from an Easter set by Inky Doodles, which I bought at the same time. I coloured it with Promarkers and that it where I left it.

The design in the centre is practically the same as Inky Doodles own example at the show, so I CASED it...I liked it, the other designs I sketched didn't take my mind off this one, so I decided to go for it...so I don't know who made it at Inky Doodles, but thank you for the inspiration!

We had a match pot of the paint we used on one of the walls in the kitchen (which is where it is destined to be hung), it's Farrow and Ball 'Mistral' so I used this to paint the layers. I then decided to go one step a little darker for the arch, so used a coat of chalk paint over the top (I put it back outside without noting the colour, but I think it was Chateau Grey).

I don't like over doing projects with stamping and inking, that's just me, but the outer layer looked a little bare, I tried stamping eggs, leaves and chicken wire and wiped each one off before using these little flowers from a Jofy set.

To finish, I sealed with a coat of clear Mod Podge.

The little tags come with the kit and the one hanging from the clock is painted as per the clock and stamped with the eggs, the outer edge was ten sanded. The wooden bird and butterflies were in a little box of wooden and mdf shapes I keep in the craft room.

So that's my project for today, thank you so much for stopping by, I'll be back tomorrow with a Tilda  sewing make...

Love and Hugs,
Carole X
