Halloween DT Card - Friday 13th September

Good morning friends,

Firstly an apology! My post scheduled for Saturday popped up early, so I have rescheduled.. sorry if you happened to see it during the short time it was there ...

Well today's the day and looking at the date, I'm glad we're not superstitious....a quick post and card today..thought this was quite apt!

I had planned a page layout of our road trip but with packing and Penny hen problems again at the last minute, I had a change of plan.

Instead a quick card from a fabulous Halloween image from Nicecrane designs..check out all the vintage gorgeousness on the site! I usually concentrate on colouring the digi stamps for my design team posts, but this time it really had to be a quick card and I wanted to show that by taking an image and embellishing it with buttons, a card is made!

I matted and layered the image on black and orange card and embossed the background with an embossability folder, which I then sprayed with silver cosmic shimmer missed. I added a double bow, some bakers twine and a pumpkin ribbon from stash.

Normally at this time of year I would be bombarding you with Halloween cards, but this year there just hasn't been time...keep calling by though because I will have a Halloween 'make' to share over the next week.

Well by the time you read this, we should be in our Virgin Atlantic plane somewhere 'up there'..but I have posts scheduled and will post extra photos if I can!

Take care all,

Love and Hugs,

Carole

Aloysius - Thursday 12th September

Good Morning Friends,

Well there will be tears this morning when we drop Penny, Lacey, Bella and Cara off at the bird farm for their 'holiday'..we had another very last minute problem with Penny, which made has it even worse and we have had to arrange with them to split them up in case of pecking..it's not ideal but hopefully if just she and Bella are together until things settle it will be okay..fingers crossed :( at least they are somewhere where they know a lot about poultry.

Later today we are off to London to stay near Heathrow overnight before leaving tomorrow morning..today's card is one I made over the summer, using one of my favourite stamps from Indigo Blu - Aloysius - based on the bear in Brideshead Revisited,

It's a simple card: I stamped Aloysius and matted and layered a kraft card blank with an inked page from an old book (sadly not Brideshead!)  and a sheet I'd stamped with a crackle image in gold ink.
I tied  big bow around the card and tucked Aloysius behind before adding a die cut flourish and tattered floral die cut from a book page.

Keep looking friends, I have lots of scheduled posts!

Love and Hugs,

Playing with the Ice Resin - Wednesday 11th September

Good Morning Friends,

Do you remember a few weeks ago I was playing with the ice resin and made the 'Elisabeth Bennett' pendant? At the same time I made this necklace  and bracelet set, what do you think?

To make it I used a dropper to add red Pebeo Prisma Fantasy paint to the bezels, followed by a few drops of the same paint in gold..then you just leave it to do it's stuff and form varying patterns. It takes about 5-10 minutes to form its pattern, then you just have to forget about it for a few days to let it harden.

Once it has hardened, then you add the resin and leave it again for as long as you can - I forgot about it for a few days to be on the safe side. You need patience for this but I think it was worth it. The bezel bracelets cost a few ££'s on ebay for four of them. I had intended to make a turquoise and onyx one, but time ran out for the moment.

Thanks so much for stopping, I really appreciate it!

Love and Hugs,

Sunday Stampers wk 274 - birds -Tuesday 10th September

Good Morning Friends!

Well today is my last day at work of three whole weeks, can you believe it? I can't! at the end of the week we will be boarding that plane and flying across the Atlantic and the USA to San Francisco. I have been in touch with my cousins this week and we are all so excited.

I'm pleased to report that my second session with the sports therapist for my back was fabulous, oh how I wish that a doctor had pointed me in this direction years ago! I'm never going to be pain free all the time, but right at this moment I am which is totally new for me! Finding Hayley, was wonderful and the added bonus is that she lives and practices virtually next door!

Today's card is my Sunday Stampers offering for this week -Hels  set the theme of Birds, which I think actually has to be my favourite subject for cards and art, so i have lots of stamps to fit this theme.

This is a Crafty Individuals stamp of an arty bird image with a musical background. I stamped it with black Perfect Medium and heat embossed with clear powder, then I inked with vintage photo. I embossed a background using the same mask as for our classes last week for the base layer of the card and inked with Antique Linen. I also die cut a leaf using craft foil. I think this might look good with the flake and acetate so will try it when I get back.

To finish this pretty simple little card I matted and layered the image on to mat gold and  black card.

I'll be back tomorrow and most of this week and whilst I'm away I have lots of scheduled posts including all the presents I made to take away with us, so do keep stopping by...I'll be updating with any craft observations and photos too, - and checking in on you all wherever free wi-fi allows too!

Hels, I won't be able to take part for the next few weeks as we'll be on our travels...I have those Michaels vouchers too!

Workshop Photos - Friday 6th September

Hello Friends,

Last night was our gilding flakes with acetate workshop and here are  photos of finished cards from some of my group. We were very excited to hear from one of the ladies, Bev, who comes along, that she had managed to get a place on Tim Holz's recent workshop (jealous or what??:))..anyway she said that it was amazing - they came away with so much  stash and Tim was a great teacher. Bev brought along an amazing tag book that she had made during the session..it was fab that she was able to share this with us.

As you can see, everyone made some gorgeous cards again!

I am off to finally finish those last few pre-holiday craft makes I need to do..at least that's my intention! I also have another treatment with the sports therapist this morning, so that should relax me!

Thanks for stopping by,
Love and Hugs,

Birthday Boy! - Thursday 5th September

Good Morning Friends,

Yesterday, whilst the sun was shining outside and our hens were enjoying a lovely day both lazing in the shade and scratching about, I was destined to stay indoors for my busiest day's crafting in a while. I have resigned myself to the fact that no more Christmas cards are going to be made before our holiday, so after preparing my packs for tonight's class, I got on with trying to finish those gifts I have been busy making for my family when we visit them...I have one left now, plus a few birthday cards that need to be sent before we leave and our own anniversary card (as we celebrate our anniversary whilst on holiday).

Today's card is one I made a few month's ago and never posted: it was made for my young cousin Sam's birthday.

It's a digital stamp, coloured with promarkers. I used a backing paper from stash and decorated with a ribbon  and washi tape.

Just a quick post today, I'm off to work and tonight is our workshop, so photos tomorrow!

Sunday Stampers Wk 273 - Friends - Wednesday 4th September

Good Morning Friends,

Well I've been missing a few days, prepping for this week's Out of the Blue craft class, still working on those last few presents to take away with us and still not getting to grips with forthcoming craft fair cards!

Never mind! Some months ago, we used these Indigo Blu stamps in one of our craft classes, so I thought I would revisit the stamps for this week's Sunday Stampers. This time Hels Sheridan has set the theme of 'Friends' - full deets here

Back when we did our class I made a silver version of this card, so this time have chosen browns and golds. It's a very simple card:  I stamped the image using a coffee  archival ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

For the matting and layering with the gilding flakes I used double sided tape and finished off with a knotted ribbon.

That's it for today...well what could be better than an evening with good friends and good wine?!

Love and hugs,
Carole X
