Good morning blog friends,
So were you all snowed in yesterday? Tom took three hours to get to work using walking, train and bus and then they closed the office in the afternoon, so he made the journey back (which was much quicker) and worked from home anyway!
I did my bit, by clearing a path and feeding the birds lots of extra food, but the hens looked at me as if I was mad when I suggested they leave the relative comfort of their enclosure, especially as I spread straw all over the floor for extra warmth...

| So it's toys inside today..they devoured a lettuce in minutes, ate copious amounts of mealworms and played with their corn filled balls |

| We have had a garden robin for years, those who have followed me for a while will know we had a pair, a nest and lots of lovely little robins last summer and the parents were very tame. This little one has been with us since August and is always around when I'm in the garden...he is on the verge of eating from my hand..bless! This could well be the basis of this years Christmas cards!
I did manage to get some crafting done between shovelling snow...mostly working on an extra workshop we are doing for a group of local ladies next week and a football themed commission. But I also managed to gesso and paint a few art parts ready to transform, so hopefully I will get one of the finished over the weekend,

Good morning Carol, we are like you with lots and lots of snow. Chickens have lots of sense do they not??
ReplyDeleteWe will be stuck here today, plenty food in the cupboards and freezer so no problems. Living in the country we are " always prepared" in the winter months. Always look on the bright side, plenty time for Crafting!!

ReplyDeleteMorning Carole...yes like you we had lots of snow and looks like we had a light covering in the night...I was watching all the children sledging on the hills behind us yesterday it was such a lovely sight and theres more out there today...oh to be young....now I would rather stay in the warm and craft

Hi Carole, wonderful shots of the garden and the chickens - they have a lot more sense than people give them credit for! Love the pic of the Robin, it would be perfect on a Christmas card - great idea. We have about 3 inches of snow but the ice is causing more problems where we live and we too, have plenty of food in 'cos I think it may get worse before it gets better. Feel sorry for Tom, after making all that effort and then they close up shop anyway.....at least he made the effort. Hugs, Anne x

Love the photos Carole, My oldest did manage to drive to work for her shift, her boss had already taken her off the list as he hadn't expected her so she now knows not to take such a chance again. So glad Tom got back safely. It is still treacherous here today and very eerie so all staying put. Take care. xx Flora

ReplyDeleteWe also had a fair bit of snow down here (pics on my blog) but it's almost all gone now! Slightly jealous of your hens - I've always wanted to keep hens since I was a child and looked after our next door neighbours. Maybe one day my hubby will say yes to the idea! Fab pic of your little robin! x
