A Little Birdie... Thursday 3rd July 2014

Hello Friends,

You are such lovely people, I knew that anyway, but thank you so much for all the lovely messages yesterday. You are quite right Hazel, only those of us who choose to keep hens in our gardens, know what a charm they are! Funny, quirky, bossy, some of them need anger management and some are the gentlest of creatures. They are all very individual and great pets, the only drawback being that we just don't often have them with us long enough.

I also haven't thanked you for the comments on my nautical wreath and especially for popping over to Sam's blog and leaving a comment.. you know I always appreciate it so much.

I haven't had a lot of time (or the inclination to be honest) for craft this week, but am sharing this little wooden bird for my Sunday Stampers contribution this week. For full deets, click here

Hels set the theme of using wood in this weeks challenge end I had lots of ideas when I originally read the theme, but then didn't get any time.

This is a wooden bird shape - I painted it with a layer of acrylic paint from a tester pot and then stamped randomly with the little stamp using crimson versafine ink, before distressing the edges with Worn Lipstick distress ink.

The 'Love' stamp is by Indigo Blu and the roses are Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms.

Just a quick little decoration!

Thank you so much for stopping by and once again for all your kind messages about Lacey...you would not believe the number of people we meet who still cannot understand that hens are pets like any dog, car or goldfish, so reading your messages was extra special.

Love and Hugs,
Carole X

  2. I love your bird hanging Carole, the colours are wonderful and I love the beautiful flowers. Well, I for one, think it is wonderful that you keep hens as pets, they are delightful creatures and they clearly give you a great deal of pleasure (and then you pass that pleasure on to us - we are the lucky ones). Have you seen Linda Ledbetter's little pet pig, Violet, yet? She is adorable! Hope each day gets easier for you my friend. Hugs, Anne xx

  4. Hi Carole

It might be a quick little decoration .. .. but it is a beautiful one!

I did a bird and birdcage themed wedding recently and my "happy couple" would have loved these hanging all around their reception venue .. .. and probably on the end of the Church pews too!!

    Love them!!!

Hope you have a good day and feel a bit more "crafty" soon.

    Love Jules xx

  5. Good morning Carole. I loving your little wooden hanger it's beautiful. Anna and Beth wished you lived nearer saying that if you did you could have two of their new chicks to bring you back up to four hens again. They have to find homes for them as they don't want to have interbreeding going on, and Fred their cockerel is to special to give away. Hazel xx

  7. Sorry Carole Beth decided to finish my comment off while I went to see what all the noise was about outside, one young collie barking at someone walking along the back of the property. Good guard dog in away. Anyway my comment was meant to say they couldn't give Fred away , but would have loved you to have two chicks as they are from Peooer their special mummy hen. She had three chicks they are now about 10 weeks old . Hazel xx

  11. Carole. You should have heard the " oh no I can't do that" from Anna yesterday when mum suggest that she gave away their baby books and ones for up to 5 year olds. Mum and dad are readers to so all the e book cases are full. They own a cottage in the borders and they take books down there and chage the big book case of books over every now and then. Then those ones go to a charity shop. I can bet Anna hasn't parted with a single book, she let's her friends borrow as she then can do the same, but keeps track of where they are. I now just read from my iPad. Small cottage no space for books as craft stuff has taken over. Hazel xx
