Emergency Crafters DT Card - Tuesday 4th September

Good Morning Blog Friends!

The new challenge over at Emergency Crafters is 'white and one other colour' - you can view the full details and look at all our Design Team cards here

For my secondary colour, I chose pink...

I started by matting and layering a white card blank with some pink card from my scrapbook stash and followed that with another layer of white. I then matted and layered a smaller piece of pink card with pink and white polka dots and gingham. I then pierced the top edge and all around the gingham...no choice, I wanted real stitching and my sewing machine is playing up! Besides, although time-consuming, I do find sewing by hand very therapeutic.

Before adding the white layer and the other layers to the card, I tied some bakers twine around the card pieces. I then stamped the sentiment, using an LOTV stamp, die cut in white and pink using Spellbinders Labels  Four Small and inked the edges of the white layer with Spun Sugar distress ink.

To finish off I added a double layer butterfly from Spellbinders Les Papillons
I followed through with the patterned paper inside..the die cuts are from my box of surplus die cuts I keep for just such a need and the stamp is from one of my Creative Expressions sets.

Have a look over at Emergency Crafters and give the challenge a go! This challenge is sponsored by the amazing Polkadoodles and  they have donated one of their brilliant CD's as a prize. If you haven't experienced the fantastic creativity that is Nikky Hall, take a look now..if you are just setting out with Promarkers, Nikky is the 'Queen' of this medium and gives some excellent tutorials on her CD's.

Thanks for stopping by, I'll catch up with you all later, probably in my lunch break at work!

  3. Such a beautiful card Carole, love the stitching all around and the stitching at the top of the gingham reminds me of smocking that I learned in school (eons ago!). The addition of the butterflies inside out is just the perfect finishing touch. It is lovely to see the inside finished off nicely too. Crafty hugs, Anne x

  6. This is lovely Carole,
I love the colour and your hand stitching is the perfect finishing touch. I wouldn't worry about not using the sewing machine all the time as I think hand stitching adds just the right texture at times and thus card is one of those times.
The butterfly is glorious (Im a big fan, can't you tell!)
    Hugs Linda x
